Sergeant Major Roberts enlisted in the United States Marines Corps in August 1980 and served an honorable 30 years on active duty. He deployed to various duty stations and Naval ships all over the world including Marine Corps Base (MCB) Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; MCB Camp Johnson, North Carolina; MCB Okinawa, Japan; Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Iwakuni, Japan; MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina; MCAS Beaufort, South Carolina; Marine Corps Logistics Base (MCLB) Albany, Georgia, and MCB Camp Smith, Hawaii. During SgtMaj Roberts' 30 years of service, he has received several awards as follows:
Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation
Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Gold Star in Lieu of Third Award),
Good Conduct Medal (1 Silver and 3 Bronze Stars), Meritorious Unit Commendation
Ribbon, National Defense Medal (1 Bronze Star), and the Sea Service Deployment
Ribbon (1 Silver & 3 Bronze Stars).
Since retiring in 2010, SgtMaj Roberts has served as the Unit Commander of Upstate Young Marines (YM) in the Simpsonville/Greenville, SC area. He is also the Marine Corps League Young Marines Liaison Officer for all South Carolina YM Units, Board Member of the Navy League Upper South Carolina Council, and the Southeast Regiment Regional Support Officer (RSO). Even now, Retired SgtMaj Roberts is serving us again by strengthening the lives of America's youth.
Sergeant Blair Patterson served 6 years (1999-2005) in the United States Marine Corps Reserves (USMC-R) with Ammo Company, Greenville, SC. He currently has 2 children in the Young Marines program and one that has retired. He has worked 17+ years in the Fire Alarm Detection Industry.
